The Walt Disney Company CEO & Chairman Robert Iger announced on Tuesday that the January 18th UFC 246 PPV headlined by Conor McGregor & Donald Cerrone generated 1 million streaming PPV buys via ESPN+. This would beat the previous streaming buys record of 814,000 for the Logan Paul/KSI celebrity boxing match.
It’s worth noting that the 814,000 number was a worldwide total, whereas the 1 million buys for UFC is a United States-only figure. The event was available as a traditional pay-per-view in markets such as Canada and Australia. Based on certain metrics like Google searches, UFC 246 is on pace to be the second biggest UFC PPV event of all time, trailing only the October 2018 UFC 229 show, which was headlined by Conor McGregor & Khabib Nurmagomedov for the Lightweight title.
